Airflex Trademark

In 2005, our competitor filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office to cancel our registered trademark “Airflex”, claiming confusion with their own trademark, in the field of fine bubble diffusers, coarse bubble diffusers and aeration systems.
For almost 3 years, through the discovery and deposition process, the facts were put together and in June of 2008, a trial took place in Arlington, Virginia at the US Patent and Trademark Office in front of administrative law judges.
At this time, we are awaiting their decision whether SSI will be entitled to retain the registered trademark “Airflex” or not. The outcome will be posted here.
Mr. Frankel co-founded SSI in 1995 with experience in design and distribution of engineered systems. He is in charge of sales, marketing and operations in the company. Mr. Frankel holds multiple US patents related to diffusers. He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis.
